Big Bear Adventure
It felt so good to be out in the snow. The snow was soft and sparkly. I heard people around me chattering excitedly about the day. Everybody was dressed alike in thick boots, jacket, hat, and gloves. Calvin was excited, bouncing up and down, touching snow. Skye on the other hand seemed a bit afraid. She clung to me and wanted me to carry her. As we were approaching the top of the mountain, I could see how slippery the hill was. I started to worry. Am I going to fall down? Are the kids going to fall down?
“Are you ready?” my husband asked as we reached the top of the mountain.
I felt my heart pounding in my ears. “Yup!” I responded with a loud shout, “Let’s do this!” We each grabbed a child. We decided that I will go down first and then he will come after me. I got on my black tube with Skye and my husband pushed me off the hill. I could tell Skye was having a great time as we were sliding down the hill.
When we got to the bottom of the hill, I first let Skye down and as I was about to come out of the sled, I could hear my husband shouting. “Move, move!” screamed my husband. I was stuck inside the tube. Skye was walking slowly, waiting for me to come out. Suddenly, I felt my husband’s tube hitting me from the back and then my tube flew toward Skye and hit her.
As Skye flew in the air, I started to see all the good times I had with Skye. I remembered the happy smile she had when we saw Pikachu for the first time at Comic Con. I remembered when she ran toward him and we all huddled as a family to take a photo.
I blacked out for a second. I didn’t see anything. I then started to hear Skye screaming, crying in fear. Oh, no! I can’t believe I just hit you!I ran out of my sled and grabbed her. I saw her standing, rubbing her eyes and nose. Her eyes were wet with tears and snow, and her face was covered with runny snot. My husband and Calvin got out and started to run toward Skye too. Everybody was okay. I sighed as I grabbed Skye. We were all fine.
